FAQs

Are kids allowed?

We really want the adults to experience being a kid again for this one weekend, so we ask that you please leave the kids at home. We didn’t arrive at this policy without lengthy consideration, but due to the plans and vision for this weekend it will be an adults-only event. If this policy is going to prevent you from attending, please let us know. If enough people are in this position, we will look into potential solutions.

Are Plus One’s allowed?

We want to keep this celebration to just our closest family and friends. If your partner is “the one” and you’ve said “I love you” to them, then we look forward to meeting them. If they’re a friend, a fling, or an on-again-off-again love interest, then unfortunately they are not invited. Photos last forever, am I right?

ADA Accessibility?

Islandwood’s indoor spaces and parts of the outdoor campus are ADA accessible. If you require any special assistance, please let us know ahead of time to ensure that we can arrange what is needed. The Islandwood staff can assist with transportation in golf carts where necessary. There will be some parts of the weekend during which we will be on uneven ground and grass, so please plan footwear accordingly.

Food allergies/dietary restrictions?

We will send out a food survey closer to date where you can inform us of your preferences. With advance notice we should be able to accommodate for virtually any allergies or restrictions.

Registry information?

There is none! Your presence is present enough for us. Seriously though, since there is a cost associated with attending, we ask that you please not get us a gift. But if you insist, we will graciously accept either before or at the wedding.

What amenities are in the lodges and rooms?

There are 4 lodges, each housing about 30-40 guests in a dorm-style layout. Every lodge has a large shared common living room for guests to hang out, as well as an amenities closet containing a washer, a dryer, an iron, and extra towels, pillows, and blankets. (Note that sometimes guests forget to put the iron back, so consider bringing your own if you’ll definitely need one!)

All rooms will have many of the same amenities that you’ll find in a typical hotel room - toiletries, bath towels, bedding, etc. That said, only 3-in-1 (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) is provided in the bathrooms so please bring any extra toiletries that you’d like. There are also no hair dryers so bring one if you need it!

Do we have to stay on-site?

While you technically don’t have to stay on-site, we strongly encourage that you do. Lodging on Bainbridge Island is limited. IMPORTANT: It is NOT recommended to stay in Seattle during the wedding weekend. It is a long ferry ride from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and there is always a chance of delays. More importantly, we picked Islandwood specifically because everyone can stay on-site for the whole weekend. We really want us all in one place to allow for moments of shared down time and connection.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes! There should be plenty of parking available, but please let us know if you will be bringing a car in the survey we will send closer to date.

Will there be a shuttle service to/from the ferry?

Yes! There will be shuttles from 3-5pm on Friday and 10-12pm on Sunday. We are still coordinating this and will provide more information closer to date.

Is the wedding inside or outside?

The ceremony and many events for the weekend will be outside. It is typically quite dry and hot in Washington in August, with historic highs of 77°F and lows of 55°F. The ceremony will be on grass so please wear footwear that will be comfortable in that environment.

What is the dress code?

Please refer to the Pack Page for details.

What should I do if I will be arriving early on Friday?

Guests are allowed to check in starting at 5pm on Friday, however we will have places to chill and play lawn games starting at 3pm. You can leave your bags at the Welcome Center (where you enter the building) and hang out until check-in begins.

We would not recommend arriving before 3pm. But if you do, feel free to leave your bags at the Welcome Center and explore the awesome campus on your own!

I will be arriving late or leaving early, how does this work?

We have events planned throughout the weekend, so we really hope for all of you to be able to experience the event in its entirety. That said, we understand that things do come up. Due to the nature of the weekend and the venue, the cost of attendance unfortunately will not change for a shorter stay. If you do need to arrive late or leave early there is no issue, you can still check in/out as normal. Please let us know ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly!

Can I bring my dog? Cat? Ferret?

Unfortunately, Islandwood does not allow pets. But you can bring plenty of photos of them and we will give them lots of love virtually.

Can I bring alcohol?

Islandwood has a strict policy forbidding outside alcohol. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. If there are any issues with this, please understand that any fines assessed will be passed on to those responsible.
